6 Mouth-Watering Toppings for Your Turkey Burger
Barbeque season is almost here, with holidays and celebrations galore – Mother’s Day and Father’s Day, Memorial Day, graduations, family reunions, and let’s not forget National Hamburger Day on May 28th!
This year, why not add some oomph to your barbeques? Expand your menu from standard burgers and hot dogs by adding juicy turkey burgers and mouth-watering toppings. You can pick a theme and serve several dishes chosen for that theme, or offer a fixings bar with a variety of tempting toppings for your guests to enjoy.
Why Turkey Burgers?
According to the USDA SR-21, a four ounce turkey patty made with a mixture of white and dark meat has an average of only three grams of saturated fat and 22 grams of protein. It is also a good source of vitamin B6, Niacin, and Selenium.
A turkey burger’s texture is similar to that of a beef patty, and it lends itself to a wide variety of seasonings and toppings. When cooking a turkey burger, be sure to use a meat thermometer to be certain that the inside has reached 165°, as compared 160° for beef patties.
