4 Tasty Ways to Add More Bacon to Your Sizzle King Burger

We know that bacon doesn’t exactly qualify as a health food.  But every once in awhile (or at least once per week) you may be craving the rich, salty and juicy satisfaction of a home grilled Sizzle King burger with all the delicious flavors of real bacon.

This article and our grill suggestions are for serious bacon fans only. Start with our Sizzle King Classic Burger, or if you really want to shake up the bacon flavors, our Sizzle King Bacon and Cheddar premium blended frozen burgers.  Then consider some of our topping suggestions below.

1. Fresh Fried and Crispy Bacon Topping: The American Classic

Want to know the secret to preparing bacon the way the professionals do, for a restaurant quality burger? After frying your bacon on the grill, or on the stovetop, remove the bacon from the residual oil and fat in the pan.  Place the bacon to rest on a couple sheets of paper towel on a plate and allow it to cool. That helps to preserve the structure of the bacon slice so that you can enjoy every bite of it on your burger. Remember not to overcook your bacon, to avoid crumbling.

For a more grown-up burger, you can also consider adding 3 tablespoons of whiskey while your bacon is cooking in a frying pan.  Try it with your favorite hickory barbeque sauce instead of traditional ketchup or mustard condiments to enjoy a rich Southern inspired barbeque flavor.

2. The Epic Bacon Wrapped Burger

Bacon and more bacon.  If you are a true carnivore and savor the flavor of real bacon and beef combined on your burger, this is one way to make sure that you get a satisfying mouthful, no matter where you bite your burger.

You can wrap your frozen Sizzle King burger in bacon before grilling, but there are some extra steps involved to create this kind of epic bacon burger.

·         Bacon wrapped frozen burgers cook more slowly. So, use a lower heat to grill them, and flip them a maximum of two times per side, to even the cooking throughout the patty.

·         Make sure to use a meat thermometer to register a minimum internal temperature for food safety, of at least 165°F.

If you are feeling extra adventurous, try placing a thick slice of cheddar or another favorite cheese on top of the burger patty, before wrapping it with bacon.  If your mouth is already watering, you’ve got the right idea about how good it tastes.

3. DIY Bacon Mayonnaise

What is the perfect topping for a burger with bacon on it?  Think outside of the standard condiments and create your own homemade bacon mayonnaise.   It just takes a few easy steps to impress yourself (or your family and friends) with a rich flavorful mayonnaise that everyone will enjoy.

Reserve the fat from frying your bacon topping and try this recipe at home.

Ingredients:

·         2 egg yolks (separated from egg whites)

·         1 teaspoon of prepared mustard

·         3 teaspoons of lemon juice

·         1 cup of liquid bacon fat

·         Salt and pepper

Preparation:

Grab your food processor and put the egg yolks, mustard and lemon juice inside.  Mix together on medium for about half a minute.   Next, turn the blender onto the lowest setting, and slowly add a drizzle of the bacon fat.  The slower you go, the better as it allows the bacon fat to emulsify, creating the thickened consistency.

Add salt and pepper to taste, and stir in gently, then allow it to cool in your refrigerator for at least two hours prior to serving.  This homemade bacon mayo recipe can keep safely while refrigerated for up to one week.

4.  Bacon Burger Sauce

There are so many amazing bacon burger sauces to try, we hardly know where to start.  So, we’ve picked two of the most popular ones our staff enjoy at home to share with you.

The Bacon and Bourbon Jam recipe from The Chunky Chef can be prepared in advance, and lasts in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.  It incorporates Bourbon, cayenne pepper, apple cider vinegar, real bacon crumbles and diced sweet onion.  Add this garnish to your burger bar, next time you have family and friends over.
