5 Easy Cheesy Ways to Top Your Sizzle King Burger
Who doesn’t love the taste of a freshly grilled burger, topped with cheese that has been melted “just right” to add that extra layer of delicious? For some, that means topping our Sizzle King burger with processed cheese, but if you are ready to try something extraordinary, why not try some of our suggestions from our test-kitchen, and have a little more fun, between the bun?
At Sizzle King, we provide some unique infused flavors that explode into a taste sensation, when you combine them with not-so-common cheese toppings. Our frozen beef patty selection includes marinated burgers in the following four mouth-watering combinations:
- Beef Patties
- Sweet Onion
- Bacon and Cheddar
- Spicy Jalapeno
Every Sizzle King beef patty is seasoned to perfection, but our specialty flavors are for serious burger fans, who are ready to thrill at the grill. Check out our suggestions for five amazing cheese toppings that you can try at home.
1. Blue Cheese
Have you ever wondered why it tastes so good, with chicken wings? Blue cheese is a superstar and adds an irresistible depth of flavor, when it is used as a topping on any meat. It’s sensational on burgers too, but make sure you buy a firm blue cheese, and avoid the creamy variety, which can quickly melt off the patty. Since blue cheese is a full flavor, we recommend melting in on our traditional beef patty, on a lightly-toasted bun, without any additional toppings.
How to Grill It
Blue cheese easily crumbles, and it can be a bit of a challenge to get it to melt right on the grill. For an expert how-to, check out this video on Cook 123. Chef Patrick at the Grog restaurant, in Newburyport Massachusetts shares his pro-tips.
2. French Brie
French cuisine is usually high in fat, but it’s bursting with flavor. France produces some of the most world-renowned cheese varieties, but the most famous among them, is the humble Brie. It is traditionally made from cow’s milk, and it has a delicious creamy taste.
How to Grill It
As a soft cheese, Brie melts very quickly. Using a small aluminum bowl, cover the patty for about one-minute, to focus the heat for the perfect burger melt. Not sure what type of Brie to buy? Check out this episode on the Rachel Ray show, for advice.
We recommend trying our Sweet Onion flavored Sizzle King burger, or our Bacon and Cheddar variety, for an extra cheesy thrill. The combination of our infused flavored burgers, with the mild creamy melted Brie is a fan favorite, and one we think your family will really enjoy.
3. Colby Jack
The shiny orange and white marbled cheese, is a little mild, but in our opinion more interesting than your average melted cheddar topping. Colby Jack is a combination of both Colby and Monterey Jack cheeses, and you can find it in the deli section. Look for the half-moon shape.
How to Grill It
Colby Jack behaves on the grill, much the same way as cheddar does, so you can slice it as thick as you like, and it will melt when your Sizzle King burger is less than three minutes from being cooked thoroughly. If you are grilling outdoors, consider covering your burgers with a disposable aluminum lasagna style pan, to retain moisture for your patty melt.
4. Smoked Gouda
What is so good about Gouda? (Sorry, we couldn’t resist). For people who love a rich, deep smoky flavor, melting a good quality piece of Gouda on a Sizzle King burger, elevates dinner to a whole new level. Consider adding rich acidic toppings like grilled red onion, or peppers which can add a bit of sweetness to each savory bite.
How to Grill It
Smoked cheese has one flaw, that grill masters need to be aware of. The smoked flavor is easily absorbed into other meat on the grill. It melts in under two minutes, so consider moving other meat off the grill, before you add it to your Sizzle King patties. The taste of the cheese is so flavorful, our test-kitchen recommends using our traditional unflavored Beef Patties and piling it high with grilled vegetable toppings.
Did we mention that smoked Gouda is also sensational on our Sizzle King turkey burgers?
5. Jalapeno Jack
Melting jalapeno jack on your burger, is anything but boring. This semi-soft cheese is a combination of the mild Monterey Jack, fused with delicate flavors of jalapeno peppers. It has a soft yellow to pale yellow coloration, with visible flecks of spicy pepper. If you are planning a tail gate party, keeping foods safe and refrigerated can be a challenge, but many types of jalapeno jack are shelf-stable, and do not require refrigeration (check the label) making it the perfect compliment to any outdoor grill.
How to Grill It
Jalapeno jack melts at the same consistency as Monterey jack, and typically at under two minutes on the grill. For the extra spicy burger fan, combine Jalapeno Jack with our Sizzle King Jalapeno Burger. It’s not too hot, but it offers a good amount of heat, for those who like to walk on the wild side.
